Internship: Ticket Services Representative with the Philadelphia Phillies

What interested you in this internship: “I always wanted to enter the sports industry and experience what it’s like working for a professional sports team. When the opportunity with the Phillies came along, I knew this would be a great chance to start building up my skills and knowledge in a real work environment.”

Primary duties: “I would answer phones and sell individual game tickets, assist customers with issues regarding their accounts, and answer any general questions about the Phillies.”

Favorite part: “Depending on the day, interns are asked to assist in other aspects of gameday operations. This could be setting up accessible seating around the ballpark, working with kids during the Baseball Academy summer camp, or helping with special events after the games like Kids Run the Bases. Helping the Baseball Academy summer camp was probably my favorite part of the internship. I got to spend a lot of time around the ballpark, spending time with the kids as they learned the fundamentals of the game. We even had actual Phillies players and coaches come and speak to the kids on multiple occasions.”

Takeaways: “This job has taught me so many great lessons. This experience also showed me that the work environment is just as important as completing the work itself. Everyone is trying to lift each other up and work together to solve problems. I was blessed to have such great coworkers and supervisors that were very supportive and helpful throughout the whole summer.”
